Who It’s For
Career changers
You have work experience in another field and want a structured, paid route into technology.
Incumbent workers
You already work for a participating employer and want to move into a tech role — or your employer wants to grow you into one.
New entrants and veterans
You’re starting a career, leaving the service, or re-entering the workforce and want to learn by doing.
Customer-facing professionals
Retail, hospitality, insurance, healthcare administration — your people skills are the ideal foundation for technology sales and support roles.
How It Works
1. Express interest
Tell us which program you’re interested in. Positions open when employers create them — most often in January and summer — and we’ll let you know when one opens near you.
2. Get hired
You apply and interview with the employer like any job. If hired, you’re a full-time employee at $17–25 an hour from day one.
3. Work and train
Thirty hours a week on the job, ten hours a week in online ICC coursework, one Ivy Tech course at a time, with a weekly cohort session. Competency is demonstrated through work cases, supervisor evaluations, and a final portfolio and project.
4. Finish credentialed
An INCAP credential recognized by TechIndiana and technology employers statewide as equivalent to an associate degree — and two years of real experience.
Common Questions
Do I need a degree or prior experience?
No. There are no prerequisites. Self-paced online fundamentals courses are encouraged before or alongside the program, and each program page lists the ones that help most.
Is this a job or a school program?
A job. You’re hired and paid by the employer for all 40 hours, including the 10 hours of training. There is no tuition.
When can I start?
Positions are posted as employers open them, most often in January and summer, on the TechIndiana job board. Express interest and we’ll notify you.
What’s the ICC?
The Intercompany Training Center: TechIndiana’s online instruction, delivered with Awesome People Leaders and Ivy Tech Community College. It’s where your technical coursework happens — 10 hours a week, paid.
Can I keep my current job?
The program is a full-time position, so it replaces a full-time job. If you already work for a participating employer, you can move into the program as an incumbent employee.
What happens after two years?
Most trainees continue with their employer in a full professional role. Others go on to college with credit for their credential, or into another INCAP Career Program.
Ready to Start?
Tell us which program interests you and we’ll let you know when a position opens near you. Employers: this is also where you start.
